This one creates some weird timeline problems by killing off a character who would appear in future installments but at the end of the day it was worth it to halt the entire franchise and focus on the electric screen presence of Lucas Black playing a 39 year old high school student Bow Wow plays a character named Twinkie and everyone calls him Twink. movie awesome don’t know if you guys know this, but this one takes place in tokyo. and they don’t just race… they drift "son, i cannot believe you got kicked out of high school!"the son in question has a receding hairline and five o'clock shadow someone pay me to write about the fast and the furious franchise, i'll make it poetic and beautiful like these movies deserve. oh yeah this is a total masterpiece, like just so good in every conceivable way, even the discount paul walker feels perfect especially in the overarching nature of the franchise. it's the only film that doesn't neatly fit into the series but it represents the truth at the heart of fast and furious, that cars are phenomenal but what matters is who's driving them. the only movie that truly understands what high school is like teach me how to driftthis is my favorite episode of anthony bourdainthis is my LOST IN TRANSLATION obsessed with the fact that there is no plot in this movie until an hour in, just vibes and that one song we all knowalso i feel like an under-discussed facet of the F&F movies is that Han is incredibly sexy, let’s talk about that why don’t we The only boring character is the main character Honestly this might be the most iconic movie in the series; the title, the theme song, the fact that everyone looks 35 years old. The soundtrack is amazing too. Not a cell phone in sight just people Tokyo Drifting. Yuck. The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift is really terrible. The film opens with a race where a woman is literally a prize to be won and that should warn you instantly of the degrading, insulting trashiness inherent to the film. This opening actually becomes a metaphor for the entire film, which is just a ridiculous dick-measuring contest involving cars where the winner essentially gets the helpless damsel in distress. There's a literal conversation about how men understand cars better than women. Every character is a stereotype, from the "trailer trash" characters to the rich kids to a whole plethora of Japanese and broader Asian stereotypes.
